As we’re not in the habit of throwing around a bunch of long words, we’ll aim to keep it simple. Essentially, carbon offsetting means you can prevent the release of, reduce, or remove carbon (CO2) from the air. Your offset funding goes towards carbon reduction projects such as reforestation, which is what we help do – plant more trees to suck carbon out of the air.

More carbon in the air than our planet can handle means climate change and global warming will become irreversible. We are at that tipping point. Trees breathe in carbon and breathe out oxygen, so an easy way to get more carbon out of the air is to plant more trees so they can breathe it in. Planting more native trees in New Zealand means not only are we contributing to the effects of climate change, we are also cleaning our waterways, creating more biodiversity and habitats for our unique wildlife to thrive, and also some green space for future generations to enjoy.

A carbon credit is a certificate that represents 1 tonne of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere. Individuals or businesses can purchase these credits to make up for carbon dioxide emissions that come from your business production, vehicles or travel emissions.

Native forest is vegetation that is native, the real OG, to New Zealand. Vegetation that was here long before settlers came along. Exotic forests are tree species that aren’t originally from New Zealand and were brought over and grown here. For example, pine trees are exotic and the beloved silver fern or ponga is native.
